Lay-flat nylon thermal laminating films are widely promoted for 1-side laminating applications, like perfect bound book covers, book and binder wraps. The porous nature of the nylon film allows the laminate to breathe and adjust to mild changes in humidity. Lay-flat lamination film also allows a higher degree of gluing ability for hot foil stamping and spot UV applications. Even turned edge gluing applications like binder wraps and hard bound books have been accomplished. Nylon laminating films can also be used in 2-sided applications; however, are not suitable for waterproofing sheets due to the porous nature of the film. Even though low melt adhesives activate at temperatures a little lower than conventional copolymer adhesives, the real advantage is that this adhesive melts faster than standard adhesive. This means low melt adhesive makes faster laminating speeds possible. Combine extra speed with high clarity and you know why low melt laminating films are the user’s choice in commercial and trade laminating shops where time and quality matters. TIP: The actual temperature required for ANY laminating film varies by laminator type (heated roller vs heat shoe), laminating speed, ambient temperature, type of paper and even the color(s) of the print being laminated.
