He stars as one of two intellectually gifted brothers who embark on separate paths in life: one struggling with a heavy heroin addiction, the other one facing a bright future as a successful doctor. The drug-addict Max (Franco) - who has a talentfor screwing up and disappointing those around him - fails to hustle a big shot drug dealer and desperately persuades his brother Adam to take him along on his trip to California. Although Max fast talks his way into a computer firm and promises to go straight, he soon falls back into his addiction and drags his brother down with him on a drug-fueled road to destruction.
